Finding the right candidate can be time-consuming and stressful, especially when the position needs to be filled quickly. For many companies, the interview is one of the most dreaded parts of the process. At Nextaff, we understand that the traditional model does not always result in hiring the best candidate. That’s why our focus is on structured interviews, where all candidates are asked the same questions in the same order. Here are three reasons structured interviews work so well.

Question Progression

With our structured interview process, questions start simple and progress into the more difficult or complex issues. Starting with the easier questions allows the candidates to feel more comfortable and relaxed at the beginning of the interview. We believe that starting with the easier questions and moving to the more difficult ones results in the best answers from candidates.

Comparing Candidates

When interviewers do not ask everyone the same questions, it is difficult to compare candidates. With the structured interview, the interviewer basically have a script. This way they aren’t struggling to remember what to ask or talk about, eliminating some nerves and also making sure to get all the information they need. When the interviews are over, all the candidates’ responses can be compared equally which leads me to our third point.

Eliminate Bias

One of the keys to our interview system is that all the same questions are asked in the same order for every candidate, allowing all candidates to have the same information as each question is asked. Every person is different, so being able to measure a potential employee’s responses can be a very valuable asset. By having this structure in an interview process, you can compare each interviewee fairly. This also helps clear the air of biases. After all, a charismatic person does not necessarily equate a great worker. Being able to see responses side by side can really help determine who would be the best fit for your company and for the position.
